Ingleside Terraces Spanish Revival
Located in San Francisco's historic Ingleside Terraces residential park, the 1920's home retained its original old world architectural details. Martin Young Design highlighted these elements while making the house's function less formal to suit a young family. The Spanish Revival tone starts in the foyer with the terracotta tile floors and decorative ironwork. It carries through to the living and dining rooms with painted wooden ceilings. Martin Young incorporated the couple's love of color and bold geometry into the furnishings as a juxtaposition.
A companion pair of industrial steel hall chairs by Augosto Dionisi Fabbro act as sculpture in the entry. British photographer Nick Veasey's indigo exray of a Sand Dollar dictates the living room's color story. California classic furniture pieces mix easily with Tommi Parzinger mid-century brass and leather benches. Across the way, in the dining room, a vintage Kerman rug anchors the space, which features complimentary tones of periwinkle and rust. Jean de Merry's contemporary Kara chandelier illuminates the MYD designed trestle table with streamlined dining chairs. A cabinet displays an heirloom collection of "Flow Blue" china.
