City Pied-à-Terre
Previously used as an office space, Martin Young Design transformed 800 square feet into a one-bedroom apartment. Finishes and colors were selected to be historically evocative. Simplified details produce calm, serene spaces. Furnishings include classic 20th-century pieces; a dining table designed by Edward Wormley, Maison Jansen cocktail table, and a1930s pot rack which displays the client’s family copperware collection.
Custom upholstery and a new fireplace and fire screen integrate with family heirlooms. Curated art and accessories define specific areas of use within the open floor plan, while at the same time, provide an over-arching sense of personal comfort throughout the home. The experience is at once cohesive between diverse elements, as well as modern and luxurious.
